Glorious Food

A great spot for a bite to eat before or after the Friday afternoon Rock’n’Roll London Walk…

Poppies is a London institution. They have been making fish & chips for as long as Elizabeth II has been the queen.

Their Old Compton Street, Soho branch occupies a building that is nothing less than the birthplace of British Rock’n’Roll. And here’s the plaque that says so…

The famous 2i’s coffee bar was a skiffle venue in the 50s, the home of the embryonic British rock’n’roll scene that would go on to change the world of music. We discuss the music, the acts and the culture on our tour.

Poppies and the 2i’s is a match made in heaven for London Music Tours – we love to drop by on our tours. And we ALWAYS get a great welcome.

Fantastic decor, too…

And, of course, the fish and chips remain peerless…

Cheers!

Find Poppies at 55-59 Old Compton Street, Soho. We point it out on the route of the Rock’n’Roll London Walk and it’s the perfect spot for a bite after the tour…

And here’s a skiffle playlist to put you in the mood…
