The Rolling Stones In 60s Soho

Adam writes…

The Rolling Stones in 60s Soho is one of my favourite London Music Tours to lead because it covers my favourite period of the Stones’ long career.

We all love the tales of 70s, the wild, myth-making rock’n’roll years. What’s not to love? And it’s a thrill when the 21st Century Stones roll into town once more for a big, live show. The Greatest Rock’n’Roll Band In the World is how they bill themselves. And few would argue.

But in the years 1962 to 1969 we find out how they became the greatest. It’s a story about people. Unlikely people, at that – a swotty student from the London School of Economics; an art school tearaway from Dartford; a grammar school dropout from Cheltenham; and a would-be hustler from Hampstead for a manager. It’s a story about how that relationship becomes a power struggle. It’s a social history of a post-war England remaking itself anew. It’s a story of race and class. Sex, drugs and rock’n’roll? Of course. And plenty of it.

There’s no story like it. And I’ve just added some new dates for 2026…

The Blues

For those of you coming new to the story of the Rolling Stones, here’s a little bit of background for you. A playlist of the blues originals covered by the Rolling Stones on their first album. We’ll visit the location of the studio where that album was recorded back in 1964. And we’ll dig deep into why the blues took hold in England in the mid 20th Century…
