Short Biography…

“Hello! My name’s Adam and I am an award-winning, qualified tour guide. I have been leading guided walking tours in London for 19 years.

Since April 2020 I have also added Virtual Tours to the repertoire.

I’m qualified as a Westminster Guide (with distinction) and since 2019 I’ve been a visiting lecturer in tour guiding at the University of Westminster. I’m a former national newspaper arts journalist and in my spare time I play guitar and sing and buy too many records.

I’ve been leading guided tours with the world-famous London Walks company since 2005 – you can visit the London Walks website at www.walks.com.”

Longer Biography…

London Music Tours

Adam Scott-Goulding founded London Music Tours in 2018 to combine his twin passions of storytelling and music. He writes…

Music

Music has always been a big part of my life. I acquired my first 45rpm record in 1972 (UK No.1 Mouldy Old Dough by Lieutenant Pigeon). In 1977 I was gifted my first Beatles album (Beatles for Sale) and the first album I bought with my own money was Zenyatta Mondatta by The Police. When not leading tours I play guitar and sing with, among others, The Glenbuck Cherry Pickers, the Elderly Brothers as well as solo one-man-and-his-guitar performances. And as of 2023 I’m learning piano.

Qualifications & Career

In 2019 I qualified as a City Of Westminster Tour Guide (with Distinction) and soon after became a visiting lecturer in tour guiding at the University of Westminster. Then in 2022 I joined the newly-founded London Heritage Training company as a tour guiding tutor.

Prior to being a professional tour guide, I was a journalist. My work as an arts journalist, critic and columnist was published in The Independent and The Evening Standard among many other titles.

Other London Tours

I have been leading guided tours in London since 2005 when I joined the ranks of the famous London Walks company – if you’d like to join me on one of my non-music-related tours, please visit the London Walks website at www.walks.com. As a tour guide I can also be found leading tours on wheels with Evan Evans, Premium Tours and London Music Heritage.

Meeting a London Walks tour at Tottenham Court Road

On my London Walks I cover the capital from Kensington to Mile End and Muswell Hill to Crystal Palace. My special themed tours include A Cartoon & Comic Book Tour of London, Publish & Be Damned! A Newspaper History of Fleet Street, Suited & Booted – A History Of Men’s Style and Crystal Palace Park

Virtual Tours

When the pandemic struck in 2020 I suddenly found myself in the vanguard of virtual tour guiding. My efforts and innovations on Zoom and various streaming platforms were recognised when I was nominated as a Visit England Tourism Superstar Finalist in 2022 with The Story Of London team.

Any Other Business?

My hometown is the beautiful city of Edinburgh in Scotland but I have been a Londoner since 1992. As well as playing music I’m also a keen amateur photographer, snapping London on my regular 15-20 mile London rambles. I live in North London with my wife Karen (also a tour guide), my daughter and my record collection.
