Adam writes… In a similar way to Camden, Chelsea is bursting at the seams with Rock’n’Roll fable and lore. And I can often be found leading private tours along its posh yet louche thoroughfares. in 2025 I’m delighted to bring these tours to the regular scheduled programme – the original plan to do so was spoiled by the pandemic. Looking forward to seeing you in Chelsea this year!
Rock’n’Roll Chelsea

From the 1660s to the 1960s and beyond, Chelsea is synonymous with music and the arts. On this tour we give the glory days of pop and rock the starring role.
Eric Clapton in his autobiography writes that he and George Harrison wrote songs together at The Pheasantry. Clapton lived at that famously bohemian location on King’s Road. Naturally we’ll swing-by for a visit. We’ll also stomp in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones in their pomp. We’ll see King’s Road as a hub of Swinging London, find the location of the Chelsea Drugstore, not to mention Jagger’s former home.
Not only this but there’s a little bit of Pink Floyd archaeology, too. Their roots as a recording band date back to their debut single in 1967. Made, of course, in Chelsea. Inevitably there’s no arts ball without Punch… here come The Beatles making videos, album sleeves and hanging with The Stones.
Bob Marley is here, too, living in Chelsea following an attempt on his life in 1976. Reggae music plays a perhaps unexpected role in the development of punk rock and we put that relationship under the microscope as well. To do so we travel back to a time before Johnny Rotten was known mainly for his opinions on immigration. Yes, the origins of The Sex Pistols can be found in this neighbourhood, too.

The Bigger Picture
If you have joined a music tour in London before, you will know that we always like to go a bit beyond the music. And our Chelsea tour is no different. Fashion, of course, will strut by – Mary Quant opened her first boutique here. Expect cameos from all manner of literary types as well – including Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde are just the tip of the iceberg. And we will also deal with the origin story of the neighbourhood and its long royal history along the way.

Drug abuse and punishment for drug offenders will appear as themes on this walk.
