The LMT Playlist 2: Bob Dylan 1965

Hello and thanks to everyone who booked or joined me for a London Music Tour this week.

Turntable with a black vinyl record spinning; the label reads 'London Music Tours' while 'THE FRIDAY PLAYLIST' text appears above.

I’m posting this on Friday 17th of July and I’m looking forward to leading my Bob Dylan in 60s London walking this coming Monday evening at 6.30pm

The full schedule of upcoming London Music Tours can be found HERE.

If you’d like to book a private tour for a special occasion, get in touch using the form at the end of this post.   The playlist posted here accompanies my walking tour A Complete Unknown: Bob Dylan In 1960s London.

Bob Dylan 1965

Back in May ’65 Bob Dylan was in residence at the Savoy Hotel here in London. The events of his British tour that year are documented in D.A Pennebaker’s legendary 1967 music doco Don’t Look Back. This playlist features the tracks from his album of the time, Bringing It All Back Home, covered by other artists.

Track one is Timothée Chalamet making a pretty good fist of Subterranean Homesick Blues from the soundtrack of A Complete Unknown. And there’s the Specials’ nihilistic take on Maggie’s Farm, the great Scott Walker crooning his way through Love Minus Zero, and a dazzling Farewell, Angelica from Joan Baez.

The last track is my all-time favourite Dylan cover, Them with Van Morrison on lead vocals with a shimmering It’s All Over Now Baby Blue. What’s your favourite Dylan cover?
